Hello,
I was trying to find a place to comment on your PR weekend, but I found this page too! What does MOB mean? The dress above, with that title, looks like one of my patterns (309), and I wondered if the young lady had made it.
I enjoyed reading all about the PR weekend. It sounds like you all had a great time! However, nobody has mentioned that there was a goodie bag. Was there one with the booklet? I ask because I donated 60 patterns to the “Goodie Bag”, and had wondered what else was in those bags.

I just found your site for the first time, and I love it!
My first impression was Wow! when I saw the bridal gown on the front page (the bride is holding a bouquet of blue pearl hyacinths.) How did you do the ruched effect on the bodice? I’m trying by doing in an attempt to do something similar on a ball gown for my daughter. I’ve experimented and am going to try to cut out a larger piece (2 or 21/2 times bigger in width?) to drape across each bodice piece. Is that how you did it? Did you only hold the tiny pleats in place at the top and the bottom? We’re hoping to create a Grecian effect on the gown, also on the skirt. (New Look 6401)
I’ve joined a forum in an attempt to get some advice but without any luck. Where I live in Norway I know no-one who can help me!

Dorothy – Thanks for the kind words! That is basically what I did for the dress bodice. I hand sewed every pleat/tuck on that sucker. I cut the fabric 3 times the width and one inch longer (because of the shaping of the bodice piece, I wanted to be make sure that I would not run out of length) I had a firm “stay”- think template- made of a stiff fabric(buckram) and hand stitched the pleats. Good luck on the dress!

Thanks for your kind reply. May I ask a couple more questions? I don’t quite understand when you refer to a stay. Do you mean that you sewed the ruched section onto a stiff fabric which was then applied to the dress? I’ve made an attempt by draping my top fabric (georgette) across the satin bodice (taking all four sections separately), using the fabric on the cross. Then I held the tiny pleats of the georgette into place in the seam-allowances, before using stab-stitches randomly under the pleats. It looks fairly ok. But I’m concerned that I’ve omitted something important with not having a stay.

Your tutorials are in great detail, but I am unable to see the pictures of the processes on my computer. Any idea why I can not see the pictures? I have tried a couple of things on my end with no luck.
