A teeny little holiday.

My Mike wants to get away for a couple of days. We have been so busy around the farm with building, planting crops and jobs, that we haven’t been away from home together for quite a while. We were throwing around ideas- mine were- Montreal (fabric shopping and maybe meet Rhonda for coffee), Philadelphia (fabric shopping and maybe see Karen for coffee) Baltimore (and maybe see Cidell for coffee) Boston (fabric shopping and maybe meet Ann for coffee), Washington (fabric shopping and I’m sure someone I “know” in my sewing world lives there and we can meet for coffee) See a trend there? The sweet thing is that My Mike would have gone along with it- “Yeah, I can always stand outside and watch the scenery“.

Sadly, all of those places are farther away than the less than 4 hours we wanted to travel this time. We decided on Niagara on the Lake in Ontario and will do mega cycling, wine tasting, and some hiking on the Bruce Trail (A friend and I want to hike the entire length of it- not in one stretch as it is 845km!) The most I have actually hiked is 100 kilometres in 5 days. That was some extremely rough terrain. I was with my husband and a friend of ours. Later someone told me that they asked our friend what they should bring along if they were to attempt that hike, and he said “Connie, definately Connie”! Aw what a swell guy- I realize that he meant that my Type A personaltiy pushed us along.

Sadly there will be no sewing involved. The best I can do is bring along my Jalie Jacket, finish the handsewing and get My Mike to take some photos- something he does grudgingly. That and sew some new buttons on a shirt that “sneaky girl Erica”s fiance asked me to replace if I got a chance. Oh by the way- the jacket looks stellar! You can see it soon.

Tomorrow I will show you how beautiful springtime in Ontario is. Think flowers, vineyards and (if you are lucky), a floral clock!

Niagra Falls is beautiful. I live 3 hours from there but I’ve only actually ‘visited’ about 3 times. When we pass by on our way to Toronto, our time is too limited for a good long stop! Have fun and don’t do the wine tasting before the bike riding!
