Happy Mother’s Day to you all. And especially to my own 2 mothers! You know I love you both for more than your excellent sewing and knitting! You are both inspirations for moms everywhere! I am lucky enough to live next door to my mother-in-law (yes I said lucky!), and less than 20 minutes from my own dear mom. As well, 4 of my 5 daughters live (at the moment) less than 20 minutes away too. Let us just say there is a lot of loving to be had today!
Lots of plans had been made for today. Plans that included sun and cycling. I forgot to mention this fact to the weather network however, and now it is raining cats and dogs. You know what they say about the best laid plans!
To cheer myself up, I meandered to GorgeousFabrics and ordered a piece - a bit of- a boatload of fabric! I have been on a bit of a fabric diet- when I really should have been on a FOOD diet- but that is a whole other story(!) I can hear my Fashion Critics saying now.. “what fabric diet Mom? You are always bringing home stuff!” Darling things that they are, they do not understand the difference between Fabricland fabric and Ann fabric! I will show you pictures some other day. For now you should head over and take advantage of her Mother’s Day Sale!
No cycling today gave me some precious moments to myself! Last week I finally admitted that there was no way on earth I would be able to sew a mini-wardrobe for PatternReview’s latest contest. Or make a delicious vintage dress for the Vintage contest. (remind me some day to show you some of my vintage patterns!)
(Pretend here you are watching a play and the lead walks to the edge of the stage and does an aside to the audience…..You know it is funny. I am still thinking about the “blogging” post I wrote yesterday, and I realized today that I often walk around during the day having imaginary, in my head conversations with you – my friends. Does that make me strange? Or just plain sad?!
I want to prove that I DID have good contest entering intentions however.
See- I have a story board and EVERYTHING. I have the fabric, I have all the patterns. Time though , hmmm time- gosh I know it was around here somewhere! Anyways The storyboard, and the planseems to be a bit of a combo between “Fore” – a golfing wardrobe- hence the golf skirt and the Polo shirt; and “A Woman Out Standing in her Field“ . Notice that I said “Out Standing”, NOT “Outstanding“! As in my job- my OTHER job. The one where I walk around in fields of corn and beans and wheat and people listen to my opinions. I am not THAT delusional about myself to think that I should use such a self-proclaiming verb..um adjective…darn that 5th grade grammar!
Back to the mini-wardrobe- I think I should really split it into two mini wardrobes that are a bit interchangeable. Cotton blouses are not too conducive to golfing, so another polo type top will be needed. And that skirt, while great for golfing (I’ve made it before and added compression shorts underneath it), is not that great for traipsing around fields .
Off for a lasagne feast right now- I hope you are spending your day with people who love you as much as you deserve to be loved!

Hey! I have that same floral fabric from Fabricland. I was thinking of making a skirt, but I like that blouse pattern you have paired with it. Hmm…decisions, decisions…
P.S. It’s Mother’s Day – you should splurge on some (okay, a ton) of fabric!!
Happy Mother’s Day, Connie!! Go ahead… Share about “the other contest” at PR!!
Warm greetings,
Rhonda in Montreal
Happy Mothers Day to you too.
Connie, email me at mlweaving at yahoo dot com, ok?
I want to chat with you a moment about corn and beans and sperm in vials.
Happy Mother’s Day, Connie. I share your thoughts on time and planning.
Your story board looks so good! And the title is way past cool. Too bad time is not on your side, but make it anyway will you. Haven’t made a story board yet but I’m still hopeful…
