Rhonda of Rhoto’s Rag ( a very nice blog written by RHOnda and her husband TOon) tagged me.  As I have not been tagged often before, I will play by the rules, cheating only a bit!

Here are the Rules for this Topic:

*Link to the person who tagged you.

 Done

*Post the rules on your blog.

Here they are!

*Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

Ahh the hard part!

1.  I had laser eye surgery 7 years ago so that my goggles would not fog up when I ski or snowboard!

2.  I absolutely abhor anyone being late - that goes for me, my husband, our children, our priest at church, people coming to play practice, friends over to visit.  I obsess over it!

3.  If my husband is away overnight I keep the lights on in the bedroom and the television on too!  Not because I am afraid mind you - I just worry that the hydro will go out and the automatic generator will fail and bad things will happen in the barn!

4.  I can read, eat, watch tv and sew simultaneously

5.  I love to find jobs - for anyone!  In my next life I am going to own an employment agency!

6.  I have attention Deficit disorder ONLY when it comes to sewing.  I start one thing, see a cute fabric and start another, see a skirt pattern that I forgot about and start it….. which reminds me, I want to start that sweet Burda WOF blouse……..

*Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

Tag 6 and link– okay here is where the cheating starts!  My first tag is to these Fiveblondes and since there are five of them, I can kill 5 birds with one stone!  Oh I know- and Karen of Sewing by the Seat of My Pants - Cause I love her blog.  It is funny, informative and insightful all at the same time. I know Karen from Pattern Review New York City Weekend.  (If it sounds like I say PR NRC Weekend as if it was mecca - well — yeah it is!)
*Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Sure will do!

Hmm I notice a similar non-sewing theme running through my blogs lately.  Don’t worry- I have been sewing up a storm.  The latest project is to compare these two patterns Vogue 2921    Vogue 8156and perhaps meld them into one tried and true, pair of pants, that I can use as a jump off point for other styles. Interestingly, both patterns are out of print! I am enjoying the task and have discovered some interesting things about both patterns. Next post I promise! I just need to take some flattering photos. Some photos that don’t make me look like “Oh some one is holding a camera I had better pose and smile”! Some photos that don’t break the camera!

That and a few daughters have been looking for jobs….

A parting note - the lost keys were found (after4 days) in a boyfriends car!  Gotta love them!

So, if you were one of these…

Jetta Key

WHERE WOULD YOU BE?Three sets of the darn things and no one- not one of the 5 childrens or 4 significant others- know where any are!

Where is the favourite hiding place of your car keys?

I came across the 2007 Canadian Blog Awards 2 days after nominations closed. Incidentally, D#1 Erica discovered it the same morning! Shucks- there were 2 blogs I would have loved to nominate. Of course this one- FiveBlondes, and Shannons Hungry Zombie Couture which is one of my must read blogs. Next year ladies!

But I digress- Want to know who the big winners were? KNITTERS!! Number one was Yarn Harlot -. You have got to see her work - it is amazing!

In the “activities” section, knitters won 1st, 2nd and 4th! Are knitters taking over the world? As one commenter said “Soon they will call it the Interknit”!!!!! Knitnut - the 4th place winner-even analyzed the results, and the effects on his blog (which is actually an entirely different discussion, one that I will post about later- you know the whole - why do some people get soo much traffic on their site, while others live on in relative oblivion)

Now not that I don’t entirely love knitters- hey my favourite mother in law is the bestest and fastest knitter I know- bbuuttt -watch out for next years Canadian Blog Awards. We fashion mavens are going to sew it up!

I have been lusting after making a red leather purse - really lusting!  Now while I have sewn a TON of bags in my time,  I have shyed shieed not attempted a purse with a frame before.

On my blog wanderings last month I came across this website NicoleMdesign.com.au She has some fabulous purses and I fell in love with this one                         #300 Purse

I corresponded with Nicole ( well okay - I don’t really know how big her business is, so it could have been an employee too!) All emails and inquiries were handled quickly and in a very friendly manner.  I ordered one entire kit and one extra set of handles.  The reason I ordered an entire kit was to see what materials she uses in the interior of the purse.  I know what I would use and how I would sew it, but I wanted an expert opinion.

It came quickly - having not ordered from Australia before I was uncertain as to how long it would be in transit.  I think it was 2 weeks between ordering and the red flag going up on the mailbox.  The instructions are detailed and the pattern easy to understand.  Here is the first line of her instructions on how to use the instructions.

DON”T PANIC

Cute!

This purse is rated with 4 “flowers” which means it is for someone with advanced sewing skills.  She has lots of other purses with different ratings on her site.

Now off to find the right red leather- any suggestions?

haven’t started on it yet - I haven’t found the right red leather yet, AND I have 4 UFO’s that are screaming at me to finish them.  Sigh, some one remind me WHY I wanted another job!  The good news is is that the new barn is next to done- with any luck my babies (can you call 300 four hundred pound sows babies?) will be happy in their new home by the end of the weekend.  My life will be easier and the sows will be happier!
